Naxos
ευτυχία (ef-tee-hee-a) is Greek for “happiness”
I have spent a LOT of time in Greece. I moved here in January 2025 and I live in Athens full time now. A big part of my life lately has been getting to know locals & their stories. Please know that much care and effort has gone into curating this itinerary so that you not only have a solid vacation, but also plenty of opportunities to learn about the culture of Greece and her people in a way that feels authentic and fun.
About the Island
I’ve chosen my favorite island in all of the Aegean - the biggest Cycladic island and thus boasting unlimited opportunities for play and rest, culture, history and endless sandy beaches with crystal blue waters. A short flight or ferry ride away from Athens is Naxos, where we’ll spend 5 nights at a cute boutique hotel in the center of the main town, Chora. The hotel is owned by family friends of mine and offers the simplicity of Mediterranean design, all the comforts of home, and serves as a great home location near the best beaches, great restaurants & the idyllic old town. During our time in Naxos we’ll be learning the art of Greek cooking, throwing plates, dancing to local music, become Greek wine connoisseurs and of course - a full day spent sailing around the island.
Daily Movement & Meditation
Wake up the right way - with a folding and unfolding. Jade will lead you through a practice designed to open your body & mind and set the tone for an awesome day. Look forward to standing sequences, opportunities to develop deeper backbends and flip your perspective, as well as plenty of groovy transitions to stretch and open parts of the body that need that extra love. Wanna sleep in instead? No shame - you do you!

Getting there & other details
I recommend flying into and out of Athens, and spending some time there. Because I design travel itineraries for a living, please come to me when it’s time to plan your time in Athens, so I can help you. This retreat is 5 full days and nights so that you can still get some extra time in Athens (I recommend 2-3 days) or another part of Greece. Getting to Naxos on July 4th: you’ll need to book a round-trip flight or ferry from Athens (Pireaus). We finish at 12pm on July 9th. Tickets vary from $150-200 and can be purchased via Sky Express or Aegean Air. Ferry tickets can be booked using the Ferry Hopper website or mobile app. To get started with your plans, fill in the form at the bottom of the page.
Greece Q&A
Is this a "yoga retreat"?
It is if you want it to be. I'm a yoga teacher, and I'll offer daily classes during the week, all of which are absolutely optional. My classes are designed to accommodate all levels of yoga practice, so whether you're brand new to yoga, "yoga-curious", or a daily practitioner, you'll be able to attend and hopefully enjoy class. If you do plan to do any yoga on the trip, you will need to bring your own yoga mat.
What are the accommodations like?
Our Naxos Town hotel in Naxos is owned by family friends - just a 10 minute walk from the port, 10 minute walk from a local beach, and equal distance into the historic old town. Each room has a queen sized bed, living area with sofas, kitchenette with a mini fridge and dining space for two, plus a private bathroom. Some rooms have balconies. The hotel roof is where yoga takes place - not a bad view of the Aegean sparkling in the horizon.
Do I need to attend all of the included group activities?
Not at all! I have curated a trip that has a nice balance of free time and group activities. As your travel leader, I've also done a fair amount of working to scope out the area and find experiences that are both culturally connected and fun. If for any reason you decide that you'd like to opt out of a group activity, you are absolutely welcome to take some "me time".
What does a typical day look like on the trip?
Yoga, brunch & activities with some free time sprinkled in. You’ll receive both a printed and PDF version of the trip itinerary before the trip starts, so you can know in advance what each day entails. Some of the meals are included due to activities. On nights when dinner isn’t included, I’ll have a restaurant recommendation & reservation for anyone who wants to attend. During free time, you should feel free to do what you want - it’s your vacation!
What is the food like?
Breakfasts are usually a combination of fresh yogurt, fruit, honey and granola. In addition, you can find a variety of pastries - sweet and savory - deli meats & cheeses, and some kinds of egg option. Tea, coffee & orange juice are available every morning. For other meals, expect a Mediterranean diet with an emphasis on traditional Greek food. Think: olives, pita bread, special dips & spreads like tzatziki & eggplant dip, olive oil & a variety of shared meat & veggie dishes composed of ingredients local to the region. Save room for dessert - Greek baklava is the best in the world!
Will there be alcohol?
Wine is available at no extra cost during our wine tasting & cooking class, and both boat experiences have an open bar (beer & wine). You are free to drink when you want. Alcoholic beverages are not included in any of the restaurant meals, but you are free to order what you want and pay a la carte!
Is the water safe to drink?
In Athens, yes. On the islands, its best to drink bottled water.
Will there be wifi?
Yes, wifi is available at all accommodations.
Are there any rules?
Have a great vacation. 2. Don’t be a jerk.
Take rest & "alone time" when you need it. Enjoy getting to know some new & interesting people. Enjoy yourself!
